It’s the directorial debut of Sofia Coppola and I think it’s actually not bad for a first-time director. It’s rather haunting actually, as even after watching the movie and having read the book a few years back, I do not really understand why the five Lisbon daughters committed suicide. I am truly puzzled. Oh, and I love the song, Playground Love, featured on their soundtrack. Plus this is a truly classic quote;
Doctor attends to Cecilia after her first suicide attempt.
Doctor: You haven’t seen enough of life to give up right now.
Cecilia: Obviously, Doctor, you haven’t been a 13-year-old girl.
