I saw Buried the other day and I must say it’s a really good thriller.
Ryan Reynolds plays Paul Conroy, a truck driver who has been kidnapped in Iraq and buried inside a coffin. He finds a Zippo and cellphone and needs to race against time to try to get help out of the coffin before the oxygen runs out.
While watching, you start feeling claustrophobic because it’s a really small box even though it can contain the entire length of Reynold’s 6′ 2 frame. You can tell when he tries to get from one end to another. Even though he has a cellphone, wait till you find that the applications are written in Iraqi and the people whom you call (on limited battery life) aren’t as helpful. One thing that really bugs me is those phone operators who really want a location, a department or a person before they direct you to those who matter. Yet, while in the coffin, there seems to be so much going on (calls from the kidnapper and hostage specialist, video streams and nature) and you can’t help but really, really wish that Paul Conroy gets out of there in time.
