Based on the children’s book by Richard and Florence Atwater, Jim Carrey stars as Tom Popper, a successful realtor who receives two crates of Gentoo penguins from his father, an adventurer who passed away at the Antarctica. Initially, the penguins create havoc for Popper and he decides to give them away but has second thoughts when his children and ex-wife start bonding with him over the penguins.
OMG the penguins are all so cute! Now I feel like watching all films related to penguins (Happy Feet, March of the Penguins, etc).
Nimrod is the klutz of the six and there’s a moment involving a snow globe that is really funny. But my heart is set on Captain because she was the first penguin and I guess she kinda imprinted on me somehow. I liked her stint at the zoo! And I find it adorable that the penguins enjoy Charlie Chaplin, because life imitates art imitates life (Chaplin was imitating the penguins’ walk). Jim Carrey is working with animals once again and I loved it when he taught the penguins to dance. Madeline Carroll from Flipped is in it and she’s growing prettier! An enjoyable and family-friendly movie!
