MAN ON A LEDGE (2012)
– 4 out of 5 stars
Surprisingly, I really liked this so much so I was smiling when I came out of the cinema. I guess I just like it when the trailers doesn’t reveal too much about the movie – in a good way.
It’s all about Nick Cassidy (Sam Worthington), who climbs onto the ledge of the top floor of the Roosevelt Hotel and literally stops traffic and gathers an audience in midtown Manhattan. He demands Lydia Mercer (Elizabeth Banks) as his negotiator to claim his innocence as his criminal past catches up.
Wow. I felt the movie was well-paced and there were enough OMG moments to make your heart skip a beat. That stupid helicopter!!! Jamie Bell and Genesis Rodriguez are probably the hottest heist couple ever. Those passers-by were entertaining too – egging Cassidy to jump, jeering when he almost fell off the ledge and this homeless-looking guy who shares the sentiment that it is always the average guy who gets implicated, while the rich guys get away with everything. Go homeless-looking man!
The climax at the rooftop scene could probably tell you how it ends and you’d be forced to agree with the homeless-looking man. Unless you watch the movie, you would never know.
