thg-catchingfireTHE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE (2013)
5 out of 5 stars

1) Jennifer Lawrence is amazing as Katniss Everdeen. There’s something about her acting that makes me violent (damn you, President Snow) and want to cry at the same time.
2) Sam Claflin is hot as Finnick Odair.
3) Jena Malone is fucking amazing as Johanna Mason.
4) This second instalment is darker and more political (aren’t they all?) and twist at the end will leave your jaw dropping.

I don’t care what anybody says, I like Kristen Stewart! Anyway, most of the haters only hate her because of Twilight and as someone who has seen her work before Twilight (Speak, Into The Wild), I think she’s amazing and her green eyes are really hypnotizing!

This version of Snow White is definitely darker than the earlier Mirror, Mirror where everything seems to be dance-y and prance-y. Even the Queen is so much more wicked. She quite literally consumes souls to keep her youth. Another scary aspect of the film was the Queen’s brother. Seriously, I think anyone with that hairstyle is scary.

The darkness of magic prevailed in the film so the fairy land the dwarves led them to was really pretty. I liked the moss-covered tortoise most! The deviation from the fairytale is that Snow White starts a rebellion and I’ve got to agree with the Huntsman that K-Stew looks fetching in metal. Chris Hemsworth looks like a huntsman and his accent doesn’t hurt though he should probably deviate from roles which require him to throw things (i) hammer – Thor (ii) axe – Huntsman.

In this fourth instalment of the Pirates of the Caribbean series, Jack Sparrow is back and this time, he’s searching for the Fountain of Youth. He’s onboard Blackbeard’s ship, Queen Anne’s Revenge, with his former lover and Blackbeard’s long-lost daughter, Angelica (Penelope Cruz). However, they are not alone – Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) and the Spaniards are also after the elusive fountain.

Jack Sparrow: You know that feeling you get when you’re standing in a high place… sudden urge to jump?… I don’t have it.

Well, the POTC series does feel different without Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley but I guess I’m pretty satisfied as long as Johnny Depp’s in it! And I liked that he said “Savvy?”! There’s plenty of action, fighting and romance! I didn’t really like the “stirrings” between Jack Sparrow and Angelica but I dig the one between Philip and Syrena! I think Philip is the fittest missionary around – Hello, HE HAS ABS!

The mermaids were nothing like Ariel but more like Jaws so do not be deceived! The action and fighting is good but not as thrilling as those in the previous films. And I spotted another handsome guy – the Spaniard is played by Oscar Jaenada, who was the sniper in The Losers!

Stay till the end of the credits for an extra scene!
